Revive - SEMH Maths Teacher

Invictus Trust are Recruiting for a SEMH Maths to be based at Revive Alternative Provision. To start as soon as possible on a fixed term contract and 0.8 FTE

We are a Multi Academy Trust comprising of six secondary schools, one primary school, and two alternative provisions, with over 700 employees and over 5,000 students, based in Dudley, West Midlands.

Our alternative provision estate supports learners to share the same ethos; young people who are most vulnerable are supported to flourish and experience success. Both Greenhill Alternative Learning Campus in Halesowen and Invictus Revive Learning Centre in Dudley aim to support young people in KS3 and 4 who have been unable to achieve in a mainstream setting.

We require a well-qualified teacher of Maths, who is committed to the highest standards of academic achievement and behaviour and will genuinely enjoy working with young people of all abilities. The post holder will be expected to teach Maths to GCSE level and possibly foundation learning schemes as required.   

The post demands patience, determination and a desire to foster young people’s learning to achieve excellent outcomes. You will need to;

  • Plan, design and deliver an innovative curriculum focussed on the complex needs of students accessing alternative provision
  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for small groups of vulnerable students and support a designated curriculum area as appropriate. 
  • Provide high quality teaching and learning within the subject area. 
  • Maintain high expectations and standards in classroom practice.
  • Maintain order and discipline while promoting the use of restorative practices.
  • Show commitment to continuous improvement in teaching and learning and the development of effective approaches.
  • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a Teacher and/or Population leader /Form Tutor.
  • Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential and which meets their individual needs.
  • Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
  • Support the AP Learning Manager in ensuring that the curriculum area provides an exciting, stimulating and informative environment for learning.
  • Promote the personal development, general progress and well-being of individual students and of the all students in provision.
  • Share and support the centre’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
  • Show all students that they are valued.
  • Contribute to strategies for addressing barriers to learning that may prevent students from achieving their potential or attending school.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you are responsible for, or come into contact with.

QUALS/EXPERIENCE

  • Maths Degree Qualified
  • QTS
  • Ability to teach all ability groups, meeting the needs of all students especially those who are in alternative provision for a variety of reasons, including those with SEN.
  • To have a thoroughly up to date knowledge of the delivery and assessment of subject specifications,  and National Curriculum and alternative curriculum/accreditation models.
  • Good or outstanding teacher.
  • Experience of working with young people who may present challenging behaviour would be advantageous.
  • An understanding of restorative practices as an alternative to punitive measures/
