Base: Broomfield Hall
Based in our excellent Animal Care department at Broomfield Hall you will perform the role of trainer/assessor, undertaking work-based assessment and delivering national qualifications and other learning programmes within a variety of settings, ensuring achievement of agreed performance and quality targets. You will be expected to strive to maintain above average success rates in all areas, using innovation within your teaching and assessing and utilising e-learning opportunities where appropriate.
The successful candidate will have proven experience of providing outstanding support for learners and will be flexible, self-motivated and dedicated to student achievement and quality. Up to date knowledge and experience of animal husbandry including exotics, small mammals, large farm animals and birds are essential. Training and/or assessing experience in the Animal Care curriculum is desirable. although you will be required to hold your A1 Assessor award (or equivalent).

Broomfield Hall is part of Derby College, a further education institution with sites in Derbyshire and the surrounding area. From the Broomfield Hall site – set in the village of Morley, Derbyshire – courses are offered in agriculture, arboriculture, horticulture, conservation, dog grooming, floristry, sport and leisure, animal care, horse care, organic production and public services.
Broomfield Hall was built in 1870 and was originally an independent agricultural college. The 450-acre site features a landscaped garden based on a Victorian garden layout. The rest of the extensive working estate is farmed.

Broomfield Hall aims to help all its students maximise their potential and reach their learning goals. Broomfield Hall is home to Derby College’s Pathway to Independence programmes, aimed at individuals who have additional learning needs and are aiming to further develop skills that will help them become more independent in the future.
Students are assessed at the beginning of their course to help devise a personalised programme. The residential accommodation support for students who live at the Broomfield campus has been praised by Ofsted inspectors as “outstanding”.
