Job overview

Are you an experienced and efficient administrator with a passion for mentoring young people, looking for an exciting new challenge in a dynamic environment?  Are you a professional person, who understands the undoubted importance of safeguarding compliance within a school environment? If that’s you, we have a perfect opportunity to share with you!

The role

We are looking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer to join our newly established Safeguarding team with immediate effect. The role will ideally suit someone who has experience in supporting young people’s safeguarding needs and who is organised and meticulous in their approach to their work. The successful applicant will be confident in reacting efficiently to the varying and unpredictable demands of the safeguarding department.  Given the nature of the role, the candidates will need to be able to work to deadlines (often at speed when deadlines are imminent), be organised and methodical and have the confidence to work with a range of stakeholders, including the senior leadership team.  The successful candidate will also need to respect the highly confidential nature of the administration that will sit with them, and be an advocate for the school’s safeguarding policy (including the coordination of the annual safeguarding training for new starters).

You do not need to have worked in a school or have extensive knowledge of safeguarding regulation to apply for the role but experience working within this sector would be advantageous.  Full training will be provided for the successful candidate during their induction period, hence why this criteria is not essential.

What KAA offers

The role will report into the Family Connections Manager and sit within the wider Safeguarding team.  KAA’s Safeguarding team are highly respected within the school community and are an incredibly valued part of our staff body.  If you join KAA, you will be joining a school that is highly committed to the safety and welfare of children and heavily invested in safeguarding compliance.

This role offers you the chance to gain valuable administrative and field experience in a school environment, and would be suitable for an aspiring social worker or pastoral leader.  You will gain experience working with staff and students, as well as external professional services such as social services and child protection agencies.  This role could be a fantastic platform for job-seekers exploring a career in safeguarding support or even teaching.

The role is being offered on a 42-week contract until December 2021, with fantastic benefits.  Working hours are 8am until 5pm every day, with some flexibility.

What you offer KAA

With a diverse student body, we are looking for a kind-hearted and empathetic person, who has the ability to encourage students to achieve their best despite their adversity.  The ideal person will be a positive role model to our young people, as well as a trusted colleague to their peers, many of whom will rely on this person to conduct imperative work, especially Directors of Learning.

At KAA we have a proud tradition of developing and investing in our staff. This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in schools, and colleagues in similar roles have gone on to explore careers in youth counselling and other therapeutic work.

The interview process will take place within a Covid secure setting within school on or around Monday 25th January.

About Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA)

KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in 2014 with just Year 7 and our facilities are second to none. We are now in our ninth year of operation and are a full school with 1,250 students in Years 7 to 13.
