School Lunchtime Assistant - hours 11.00am – 2.00pm
School Assistant - hours 9.00am – 11.00am and 2.00pm – 3.00pm
If you are interested in any, some or all of these roles and would like further information, please do get in touch. They will all start on 1st September 2022.
The vacancy has arisen due to the relocation of the current post holder after an excellent year working alongside the new Head.
The New School Exeter is an independent pre-preparatory school for over 70 girls and boys aged 3-7 years. Our key aim is to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which prepares children for the next step in their education. This is achieved within a stimulating, nurturing and inspiring environment where children can thrive and develop a real love of learning. The school is located in a former Victorian chapel on a private, wide, tree-lined avenue within an acre of grounds. Just three miles from central Exeter, it provides an oasis of calm from the bustle of city life. In March 2021, The New School (TNS) became part of the Exeter School family. Exeter School is an HMC and IAPS co-educational school for 950 children aged 7 to 18.
The appointed candidate will be a capable and enthusiastic person with a willingness to contribute to all aspects of this busy and vibrant independent day school. As a small, busy school where everyone pitches in, the need to be a flexible, adaptable, reliable and punctual team player will be paramount. An enthusiastic, “can do” approach, together with patience and a sense of humour, will be essential.
The roles will attract an hourly rate of £10.65. Generous benefits include free school lunch during term time, free parking and membership of SimplyHealth cash plan.
Please submit your application and a covering letter/supporting document stating which role(s) you are interested in, via TES. Applications must include a completed TNS application form – for safeguarding reasons, CVs alone cannot be accepted.
Applications will be considered as they are received and suitable candidates will be invited in for interview. Therefore, early application is highly recommended.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and responsibility. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
All staff working in the school during the school day will have some contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. In your role you are likely to be regularly working directly with, and be responsible for, children in your care.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
