Job overview

The core purpose of the role is to strategically lead and manage the business innovation, financial and premises aspects of the school in order that the Executive Headteacher and senior leaders can focus on teaching and learning and raising standards.

The Business Manager acts as Chief Financial Officer and must hold a relevant Finance/Accountancy qualification and experience of managing budgets and financial reporting systems.

The postholder is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and has direct line management responsibility for the office staff.   

You will be directed by the Headteacher to perform a variety of duties, including secretarial and administrative support for the Senior Leadership Team, financial management, personnel management, leading a team of admin staff and ensuring high quality performance through effective monitoring, evaluation, development and best value approach to the use of resources to enable students to achieve their best.

To be successful you must:

Have a relevant Finance/Accountancy qualification and experience of managing budgets and financial reporting systems.

Be proficient with a range of IT applications

Be able to work in a pressurised environment dealing with a variety of tasks and deadlines

Be a good communicator at all levels

Be an effective and professional role model

Have the capacity to play a full role in the leadership of the school

Have experience of analysing financial data/reports to present to Governors and the Senior Team.

Have previous experience working at a senior level, leading teams and developing systems of internal control.

Have an understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities.
