We are seeking to employ an effective, innovative and enthusiastic School Business Manager (SBM) who will be accountable for all business functions of the school including Finance, HR, ICT, Premises, and Health and Safety.  

You should possess the vision and passion to work in partnership with the Headteacher, Senior Leaders and Governors, utilising your strong strategic management skills to provide quality leadership and to drive continuous improvement through the evolving educational landscape.

The successful candidate will:  

• Demonstrate proven leadership and management experience, in areas including finance, human resources, premises, and health and safety.  

• Be someone with excellent analytical skills in order to drive school improvement;  

• Be an excellent communicator who can build strong partnerships with staff, parents and the community;  

• Be someone who can manage change, be creative, ask difficult questions, challenge and support;  

• Have a comprehensive understanding of excellence in the School Business Manager role;  

• Be someone who can maintain and enhance the high standards and expectations we set ourselves.  

•      Have a high level of professional discretion and a high standard of both verbal and written communication.  

• Have a genuine desire to involve themselves fully in the life of our school and to work as part of our forward-thinking team of professionals.  

A relevant professional qualification such as CSBM would be desirable or the commitment to work towards such qualification is essential.

Information about the Academy

Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College is a mixed Academy school with 880 students and a PAN of 180 in each year group. As a school we are very much committed to the importance of the community we serve and we are committed to improving and developing the quality of teaching in order that students become independent learners, high achievers and happy and fulfilled individuals.   

Governors are wholly supportive of the school and there are regular well attended committees in the areas of  Teaching, Learning & People, and Finance and Premises.   

Broadoak is a successful, popular school where achievement and relationships are vitally important, and where all students and members of staff are valued. We foster values of courtesy, consideration and individual responsibility, we offer a high level of challenge accompanied by high levels of support so that all can achieve. 

Young people are at the very heart of the College; not only do we value academic performance, but we also believe that students should enjoy their time at school and achieve across a whole range of areas. We provide a happy and safe environment within which students can experience opportunities beyond the classroom so that they can become engaged, independent learners and responsible and confident adults.  

There is an extensive support system for students with special educational needs and resources are appropriately targeted to deal with learning and behavioural difficulties.  We have an extensive Student Support Team, headed up by a Deputy Head, including a Personalised Learning Base with allows for flexible timetabling and support for students with complex needs. 

The extra-curricular provision in school is also seen as a crucial component of what we offer young people.  Opportunities to pursue extra-curricular activities and societies are considerable with a number of residential activities available.  

Students in Year 7 – 9 enjoy the opportunity in the Summer Term to engage in an Activities Week, where all students are involved in day trips and residential experiences. At Key Stage 4, students also have the opportunity to undertake one week of Work Experience with a local employer.  

Peripatetic music lessons are available to students and there are regular high quality dramatic and dance productions involving large number of students.   

There is a well-stocked and lively Learning Resource Centre and the dedicated staff run a daily breakfast club, a huge choice of interest groups and regularly organise visits from well-known authors. 

We believe that students should have a range of opportunities to develop leadership skills from playing a role in our school sports teams, being a tutor representative, and when they reach Year 11, perhaps even a prefect! All of these roles provide opportunities for our students to celebrate their achievements and skills and act as a positive role model to others. 

We have excellent relationships with our local partner primary schools, enabling us to offer a comprehensive transition programme. The majority of our students continue their further education within the area, supported with strong links between us and the colleges.  

Broadoak offers all new members of staff a pleasant and friendly atmosphere to work in and   encourages participation in social as well as professional opportunities, whilst striving for improved standards and results. Every teacher is given a lap-top, and there is a strong emphasis on staff development, training and teamwork. We actively encourage staff to get involved with all aspects of college life and extra-curricular opportunities.
