About Ashmead Primary School

Ashmead School was rebuilt as a one form entry school in 2008 and was expanded to a two form entry school in 2017. The school currently has approximately 300 pupils aged from 3 to 11 years of age. The Nursery offers part time and full time places for children from 3 to 4 years of age.

The school site has two main buildings, the lower school on Ashmead Road housing children from EYFS to Year Three and the upper school on Lewisham Way for children in Years Four, Five and Six. Both buildings provide excellent learning and teaching spaces. All the classrooms and associated work spaces are light and airy. The outdoor play and learning spaces are excellent and include a Forest School, trim trail equipment, a treetop walkway and tree-house in addition to the loose part resources available as part of our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) Provision.

Ashmead is a values based community where children and adults are respected as individuals. Our vision is that through excellent teaching and care, every child leaves us knowing they are both lovable and capable. There is a high level of support and close links exist between parents, staff and pupils. There is a strong family atmosphere within the school. Parents are supportive and the PTA works together with teachers and support staff to put on many social and fundraising events throughout the year. Parents and members of the local community often also help out in school as volunteers.

There is a large number of support staff working in the classes in school and they form an important and valued part of the team. Many of our support staff have specialist skills and offer academic interventions or extra-curricular activities for the children.
