We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled and organised candidate to join our cluster of specialist educational settings and children’s homes based within Frome and the surrounding area. The successful candidate will play a critical role within the senior leadership team, leading and advising on matters relating to Finance and HR.

You will be able to demonstrate an in depth understanding and knowledge of excellent financial control and management, balanced with an appreciation of our focus on providing the highest standards of support to our young people.

Supported by our local HR team, you will provide guidance and support to senior management colleagues on the interpretation and implementation of the company’s Human Resources policies, and will ensure local procedures are in place for effective and consistent employment practice. You will provide professional support to senior management colleagues in relation to all HR areas, including employee relations and resourcing, and will work in close co-operation with the company’s central resourcing and people services teams, and HRBPs.

This role requires highly developed interpersonal and communication skills in order to deal with a range of challenging, sensitive and complex situations.

You will ideally have experience of working within an educational setting, and will hold a qualification relevant to the role.

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current driving licence and their own transport, as there is an expectation to regularly spend time at each of the settings within our cluster.

Please note this role is full time all year round (52 weeks).

Frome Services includes two schools, a further education college and a number of residential houses, some of which are standalone provisions.  Each provision offer specialist services for young people with ASD and associated associated disorders.  Students attend both as day and residential pupils; both the schools and college have dedicated on and offsite residential houses. The services are based in Frome and surrounding areas including Mells, Trowbridge, Shepton Mallet and Stroud. Our services are focused on providing opportunities for young people to fulfil their academic potential, whilst providing a safe, nurturing and supportive environment. A strong emphasis is on personal development and independence skills; our ethos was created in the belief that a positive, supportive, achieving culture is essential for good pupil progress. We seek to maximise independence and individual potential so pupils gain the skills to live happy, meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Students accessing our services are educated in the main at site by our teams of specialist teachers, Therapists and support staff. There are also opportunities for our students in our further education to be supported to access off site education and work opportunities.

About Farleigh Further Education College

Farleigh Further Education College in Frome was established in 2000 as an independent specialist residential college for up to 90 students aged 16 to 25 with Asperger Syndrome and associated conditions. A range of diagnoses may have been applied to our students, including autistic spectrum condition (ASC), pervasive development disorder or autistic or Asperger Syndrome traits. The town of Frome has a population of 26,000, and is 13 miles south of Bath.

Values and vision

Farleigh Further Education College strives to support all students in preparing for adulthood, feeling empowered to make choices and optimising their independent living skills. In order to achieve this, the school provides an aspirational provision focused upon a positive understanding of autistic spectrum conditions. Also offered are one to three year intensive learning and independence programmes, and access to mainstream further education through individualised tailored academic and vocational courses.

Farleigh Further Education College aims to provide the widest range of courses for students through partnership agreements with local mainstream colleges. The school offers young people the option to choose from more than 150 courses including GCSEs, A-Levels, and pre-entry vocational courses. Students have previously studied a broad spectrum of subjects, including Japanese, Psychology, and Art.
