Salary: H3:5- H4:9** (£21,575 - £23,194 + Fringe £663) (£22,238 - £23,857)

**depending on skills and experience.

Are you a hands on, practical person looking for a role in an excellent secondary school?

Do you enjoy working on buildings, grounds or property maintenance, or have experience in estates, premises, facilities or caretaking duties? Perhaps you have skills or experience in one or more of these areas and are looking to expand your role.

If you are able to work on your own initiative, practical and hardworking and hold a full driving licence (or be working towards one), and have the skills (or able to learn the skills) to carry out a wide range of practical tasks then we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for someone to take on a full time, all year round role, for 37 hours per week (including working in school holidays and outside school hours). There may also be the opportunity for additional paid hours outside of this, for example relating to lettings etc.

You would work as part of the school premises/Estates team dealing with pupils, parents/carers, staff, governors, contractors and visitors, and as part of that team you would be responsible for the maintenance and security of the school premises and site.  Including for example:

·        Making sure buildings, site and resources meet standards of cleanliness and Health & Safety are met,

·        Operating and regularly check systems such as heating, cooling, lighting and security (including CCTV and alarms),

·        Undertaking minor repairs and maintenance of the buildings and site, and other such tasks as relate to the efficient, safe and secure nature of the site.

If you think this role might be for you, why not arrange to come in for an informal chat and see for yourself! Site visits are warmly encouraged. Please email recruitment@stmarys.net to arrange a visit.

We look forward to hearing from you!

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Welcome

St. Mary’s has a strong tradition of providing an authentic education which aims to deliver excellence for every member of our Catholic community. It is our mission to build on that tradition as we develop the school still further over the years ahead.

Our school is built upon an ambitious mission for each and every young person: to fulfil academic potential; to be fully developed in the personal, social and spiritual areas of life; to achieve excellence in every area of life; and to be underpinned by Gospel Values, enabling each person to value individuals and contribute positively to society. We work in partnership with parents and the wider community to ensure that this mission is accomplished in the lives of all our young people, and in so doing, enable those young people to live life to the full.

The aims of the school are:

• the formation of our young people according to Gospel values;
• the fulfilment of the potential of our pupils in all aspects of the curriculum;
• the personal, social and spiritual development of our pupils into responsible, generous and caring members of society;
• the achievement of all these within a culture of respect and appreciation for the worth and contribution of each member of our school and its wider community.

In 1896, five Sisters from the Belgian congregation of St Mary of Namur came to Bishop's Stortford and established a school with just 9 students.  These pioneering Sisters were the first to provide Catholic education for the district, and the school rapidly became a success. Their legacy is St Mary’s Catholic School, and as we look to the future with high expectations for continued success, their vision continues to inspire us. This is expressed in our aspiration towards academic excellence founded on Gospel values. In practical terms this also means the best possible pastoral care and guidance and the challenge and support of a broad range of spiritual opportunities which permeate through all aspects of school life.
