We are looking for a pleasant, self-motivated, adaptable and hard working person to join our Premises Team. Good DIY and practical skills are essential and experience of working in a school and/or in a trade such as building, plumbing etc. would be an advantage. 

The postholder’s duties range from dealing with contractors to cleaning drains, sorting out flooded toilets, moving furniture, cleaning, but above all, ensuring that the health and safety of pupils, staff and all other users of the building is maintained at all times. You will also be responsible for locking up and ensuring the security of the school.

A knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace is required for this post as are good literacy and numeracy skills. 

The successful candidate must be able to prioritise, plan and organise their workload efficiently, without direction, and must be adaptable and flexible to whatever is required of them for the effective running of the school.

Some flexible working/additional hours will be expected, including opening and closing the school for lettings as required, for cover when the Site Manager is on leave and during the school holidays. There is also the possibility of an additional cleaning contract to be awarded, if the applicant is interested.

Roding Primary School is a non-denominational, co-educational facility in Woodford Green, North East London. The school has special provisions for children affected by deafness. Children will typically start in the nursery facility or one of the two Reception classes. Roding has a Breakfast club and and an independent company is also contracted by Roding Primary to provide after-school meal facilities. 

The school was constructed in 1938 on land belonging to Bernardo’s charity, and the Infant and Junior divisions were joined together in 1952. Today, Roding Primary is a two form entry school and educates children between the ages of 3-11. There approximately 440 pupils on the school roll, of which 35 children who are hearing impaired or deaf. This creates a unique, rich and privileged identity for Roding Primary school and is a fundamental part of our inclusive nature.
