The Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz is an international boarding school with a history stretching back over 120 years, located near St. Moritz in the heart of the scenic Engadin valley (Switzerland). 220 boarders from around the world and 110 local day students study at our school for the Swiss Matura, the iGCSE, the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) and the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP). We are currently looking for an experienced

School Counsellor (80-100%)

Start date: Beginning of August 2023

Responsibilities:

  • Provide orientation for new students
  • Coordinate small group and individual counselling sessions with students
  1. coping with difficult personal and family problems
  2. increasing self-awareness and developing positive self-concept
  • Develop, establish and supervise processes to support students’ academic performance and behaviour
  • Support and guide teachers and boarding staff in the early identification of student problems
  • Provide observation, strategy development and processes to meet social/emotional needs of individual students
  • Implement and conduct professional development for teaching and pastoral care staff
  • Provide guidance to the Learning Support and Student Well-being team
  • Support with the planning and delivery of pastoral workshops in both the boarding and PSHE programme
  • A member of the safeguarding team with possibility of safeguarding lead role

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counselling or a related field
  • Minimum four years personal and social counselling experience in an educational setting
  • Well-versed in psycho-educational interventions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English, both verbal and written, German an asset
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to understand and empathize with social and cultural diversity

The Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz, founded in 1904, is a Swiss international boarding school set in spectacular alpine landscape near St. Moritz.
