The main purpose of this job is to help and support school community wellbeing and students’ affairs related to behavior, academic achievement, and social and emotional development balance. 


The School

Cheltenham Muscat opened in September 2021 and is Oman’s first, premium branded, British school, for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. Our partnership with Cheltenham College UK, who have been educating pupils both from the UK and abroad for 180 years is genuine. Set on an outstanding state-of-the-art campus, pupils and teachers at Cheltenham Muscat benefit from first-class facilities for both academic and co-curricular learning.


The Person

The successful candidate will be someone who:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s level in Counselling or Psychotherapy.
  • Nationality: Omani
  • Further Therapeutic training or qualification in working with children and young people. 
  • Good Written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work confidently on own initiative
  • Positive communication and listening skills
  • Patience, Tolerance, and sensitivity
  • A Mature and non-judgemental outlook

Safeguarding and Privacy

Cheltenham Muscat is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all the staff to respect this commitment. The post is subject to applicants providing a satisfactory Police Clearance Certificate from their home country that is less than three (3) months old. Three satisfactory professional references will also be required.

If successful and if applicable, for visa purposes applicants will need to supply

relevant degree certificates, university transcripts and proof of being a ‘full time’ pupil. These documents will need to be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Oman Embassy in the applicant’s home country.

The structure of Cheltenham Muscat is:

Pre-Prep           KG1 – Grade 2                

Prep                  Grade 2 – Grade 8

The school is located in the Al Bandar Masterplan – a 1.1 million square metre development situated in close proximity to Muscat International Airport, City Centre Muscat and many residential communities. Our state-of-the-art campus houses some of the finest school facilities in Oman. These include dedicated libraries, a central atrium, a STEM centre, an Art and Design centre, music and drama classrooms and practice rooms, IT labs, indoor and outdoor sports facilities and a 25m x 6 lane pool plus learner pool.
