We are looking to appoint a Secondary School Counsellor for the Senior Girls Section to join our existing team at GEMS Wesgreen International School for the start of the 20-21 academic year. The school has a focus on high academic standards, computational thinking, social and emotional education as well as inclusivity to allow all students to succeed through a range of academic and vocational pathways.

Salient job requirements:

  • Organize and provide short term academic, personal, social, emotional and career counselling for students
  • Work with the senior management team to develop experiences and activities for students’ holistic development
  • Maintain caseload summaries to establish trends within school and session records to support interventions
  • Provide students with guidance on admission to higher education institutions, organize and process recommendations for students pursuing admission to higher education institutions and provide assistance with application procedures.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be a qualified Psychologist or a registered Counsellor
  • Have solid and demonstrable counselling experience of at least 3 years, one of which should have been in an NCFE Curriculum School supporting Secondary/Senior School
  • Have a resilient and agile decision making skills to ensure successful design and implementation of programs that meet school and student body requirements to help students achieve success in all aspects of their life
  • Possess superior interpersonal skills that reflect patience, tolerance, sensitivity, empathy and enthusiasm for working with students 
  • Aspire to work in a world class school with real prospects for enhancing their career
  • Have excellent IT and interpersonal communication skills required to work closely with relevant stakeholders
