Rainbow International School Uganda (RISU) is a coeducational 2 – 18 years day and boarding school in Kampala, Uganda. The Post:

We are seeking an experienced School Counsellor with the ability to teach either Psychology or Sociology in the Secondary section. In addition to counselling pupils and liaising with relevant external agencies, this role may require working with other groups, such as running parent workshops, and using your expertise to assist other staff members dealing with pupil issues as well as teaching in the Secondary Section.

The successful candidate will have post-qualified experience in working with young people and will have an understanding of their developmental issues (particularly their emotional and mental health). It is essential that the successful individual is knowledgeable regarding Child Protection legislation and its application, as well as of mental health services.

The Successful candidates must:

• Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism

• Ability to inspire trust, confidence and respect

• Be energetic, enthusiastic and a team player

• Have previous experience working with children

• Have a proven track record of outstanding classroom practice;

• Have a working knowledge of Google Apps

• Have a Bachelor’s degree that matches the requirements of the School Counsellor position which will include student support, assessment and Counselling and either teaching of Psychology or supporting students with University application procedures.

• B.Ed./PGCE/PGCEi/PGDE (will be desirable for teaching of Psychology)
