We seek to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and resilient Cover Supervisor who enjoys working with young people.  You will join our highly successful and motivated team to provide high quality cover for absent teachers in the classroom and to assist as directed with student intervention. 

In simple terms, a cover supervisor is employed to supervise the cover work that has been set, therefore will manage class behaviour, answer questions when you can, keep the classes on track with their tasks, collect all the work completed through the day and report back to the cover manager.

If you are thinking of working in education then this role will give you the experience to see how schools manage their behaviour, the systems and policies for each school and to have a general knowledge of how a school is run, will make the transition into teaching that much easier.

Being a cover supervisor will give you an insight into what schools are really like, the challenges faced by teachers and staff on a daily basis, the type of character it takes to work with young people and whether this is something you want to commit to.

This role can also support anyone looking to go into teaching to join a SCITT programme through the Cambridge Partnership. 

Knowledge & Skills:

GCSE or equivalent in 3 -5 subjects to include Maths and English.

Full training and support will be offered to the successful candidate.

Stamford Welland Academy opened in October 2014 and this is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding academy who values each and every member of our community.  We are currently upgrading areas of our building and looking to develop a sixth form with links to our local community in Stamford over the coming years.

Ofsted report

At our latest Ofsted inspection, we were judged as ‘Good’ in all areas. The report published in September 2021 heaped praise on our leadership team and followed our impressive Key Stage 4 results which were also the best results the school has ever recorded.

The inspectors said: “Leaders have done much to improve the school, including the quality of education. They have set high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and attitudes to learning. They have strengthened relationships with the local community. These improvements have led to more parents wanting to send their children here.

“Pupils study a broad range of subjects. In key stage 4, they are encouraged to study subjects that leaders believe will help pupils in the future. As a result, there has been a large increase in the number of pupils who study languages. Leaders make ambitious decisions about the curriculum which are in the best interests of the pupils. For example, they have changed how pupils study the different subjects in Years 7 and 8 to address previous underachievement at the end of key stage 4.”
