Job overview

Looking for your next challenge? Interested in a great opportunity to be part of an exceptional team, with the chance to positively impact on the outcomes of young people in a beautiful part of the country?

Athena Learning Trust want another inspirational School Improvement Lead to work with our Director of Education Joe Kirby and his exceptional team, within our forward thinking Trust, supporting our schools to improve the quality of teaching and learning and achieve exceptional outcomes for all of our children.

This role will give the right person a chance to build and develop their existing leadership skills as part of our school improvement team. Working to embed disruption and distraction free learning, developing the curriculum and pedagogical approaches, and embedding our established raising standards plans at KS2,4,5. We also see attendance as a key strand of our school improvement plans and driving student attendance will be a key priority.

You will be working with some of the brightest minds in education and therefore you will need to be open minded and capable of learning from others. You need to be exceptionally bright, hard working, fun and engaging, have high energy and be thorough. If you don’t possess all of these qualities this job won’t make you happy and we want our staff to be happy. You need to be able to keep up, to contribute to our thinking and planning, it's why we prioritise these qualities in the recruitment of our people.

With previous experience as Head of a large department or as a senior leader in a school, you will have worked to achieve high performing outcomes. Initially focusing on raising standards within year 6 or year 11-13 you will be based in a single school for 2 to 3 terms at a time or until the trust’s improvement plans are fully embedded and having an impact. You will be based in schools 5 days per week and the flexibility to be able to relocate or live away from home is essential. Your first assignment will be based at Atlantic Academy near the beautiful Hartland Point and Clovelly. We of course cover expenses in order to allow this to happen and would be open to relocation expenses for the right candidate.

Why us? You will be working with an amazing team of people, driven by inspirational leadership and a desire to improve outcomes and opportunities for children. We want to be the best trust in the world, delivering the best outcomes for our children.

Our Trust also offer some great benefits, including top rates of pay, support with your health and wellbeing, CPD opportunities, free on site parking, and access to Perkbox, a scheme to offer you a wide range of rewards and even savings on your weekly shop.

We believe in our staff, we love working together, we love divergence in thinking, we enjoy having fun, we employ exceptional people, we value diversity, we are singularly focused on ensuring children have a better chance of success.

This role is a full time position, on a permanent basis.

We can support an Easter start date, however this is an important role and we need the right fit for our Trust and team - to find an exceptionally brilliant candidate we can wait for you.

Salary Scale: L14 – L17 (£61,042 - £65,699)

We reserve the right to close applications to this role - please don’t delay in applying.

Interviews to take place at our Trust offices in Dunheved House during December and onwards.
