Job overview

Join the L.E.A.D. Academy Trust as a Science Improvement Lead to inspire and motivate teaching colleagues from Easter 2018. This is a new and exciting role created to partner with all three secondary academies within our successful and growing Trust.

Following the successful appointment of both an English and Mathematics lead, we are seeking to appoint a successful practitioner for Science. The post holder will be a key player in our journey and success at secondary level, in a role that is both strategic and operational.

If you have a successful track record of high-quality teaching and would like to make a jump out of the classroom and into the role as coach, L.E.A.D. Academy Trust would welcome your application.

This role requires the successful candidate to coach and mentor others, offering advice and feedback to improve the quality and consistency of teaching practice. With a key focus in your chosen key subject, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of outstanding teaching, with experience of role modelling best practice to others.

  • Do you play a key role in the leadership and development of Science within your school?
  • Have you partnered with other schools to promote collaborative working and the sharing of good practice?
  • Do you have experience of observing lessons and providing feedback to help the development of others?

The successful candidate will partner with leaders and teaching colleagues at secondary level, working in line with their school improvement plans to highlight and implement strategies that have a positive impact on pupil outcomes right through to KS5.

Joining our Trust will give you:

  • accelerated and supported career progression;
  • a role that bridges the gap between strategy and practice;
  • Central Team Support to guide School Improvement;
  • an established group of professionals that are engaged in our commitment to develop others;
  • excellent salary packages, with opportunity for progression;
  • up to 45p per mile to cover the cost of travelling between sites;
  • access to the Teachers’ Pension and all other teachers’ terms and conditions;
  • staff rewards and benefits through the Perk Box scheme;
  • a rewarding and fulfilling working environment.

If you have high aspirations for your own career development, this opportunity is not to be missed.

If you would like to find out more about this new and exciting role, our Director of Schools (Secondary), Dale Hardy, would be more than happy to talk it through with you. For an informal conversation, please contact 0115 822 5440.

Closing date: Midday on 12th January 2018.

The L.E.A.D. Academy Trust was recently named by Ofsted's Chief Inspector, Sir Michael Wilshaw, as a "high performer" and that it should be used as an example to others.

Our vision is that through outstanding leadership we will provide the highest quality education to enable every pupil to realise their full potential.

Of course, every good school aspires to this aim, so what makes us different?

We passionately believe in the power of partnership working as a catalyst for ensuring more children receive an exceptional education.  Our member schools know the transformational impact it can have from experience.

At the same time, we recognise the importance of autonomy.  Every school has its own context and challenges.  This is why we encourage our member schools to lead and manage in a way that preserves their individual identity and responds to the specific needs of their children and community.

The combination of autonomy and collaboration across key areas of leadership and management, underpinned by shared vision, values and best practice is what makes the L.E.A.D. Academy Trust unique.

We are also strengthened by the support, guidance and wide-ranging skills of our experienced board of trustees.

The acronym L.E.A.D. embodies the four core principles at the heart of the Trust: strong leadership at every level; empowering every child to aim high; giving every child the opportunity to achieve and constantly driving for improvement.

Our innovative model is already attracting widespread attention from schools which share our vision and values and want to join us in finding new ways of giving their children the best possible education.
