Embedding a strong reading culture has become a school priority. This is therefore an exciting time to join our team and play a key role in helping ensure reading permeates the school’s curriculum. The Librarian is responsible for the daily operation of the Learning Resource Centre and our digital reading initiatives, including the management of our library collection, student study spaces and virtual library. The role will require the careful deployment of resources (both physical and virtual) and the cultivation of a friendly, supportive atmosphere to ensure that students have a calm and productive space in which to study. The Librarian will work flexibly and proactively through a world of ‘Blended learning’ working closely with a range of areas and teams, including but not limited to: the SENCo and learning support, subject leaders and teachers. The role will also offer the opportunity to have a direct impact on student learning through supporting teachers within lessons, developing resources for teaching research skills to young people and delivering extra-curricular activities to promote a love of reading. Ideally, you will have a qualification in librarianship, teaching or information although consideration will be given to a candidate currently working towards a suitable qualification.  The hours are 36 per week, worked during term time only.

Salary will be based on experience, in the GLPC pay scale S5 points 11 – 15. The hours are 36 per week, 8.00am – 4.00pm, term time only. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of staff.

The Support Staff application form is available to download on our website at www.johnfisherschool.org/Career-Opportunities where you can also find further information on the school.  Completed application forms should be emailed with a covering letter to Mrs H Palmer, Office Manager, at h.palmer@johnfisherschool.org by the closing date of noon on Thursday 7th July 2022.  Interviews will take place W/B 11th July 2022.

The school reserves the right to interview and appoint before the closing date if a suitable candidate is found.  We therefore welcome early applications.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to equality of opportunity.   The School expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS will be required.
