Job overview

Brighton Girls is seeking a School Nurse who can play a key role ensuring the health and welfare of all pupils.

You will provide a clinically effective, high-quality service of nursing care to pupils and first aid care to all members of the school community and promote the health, wellbeing and protection of the pupils in the school community through clinically effective, high quality nursing care.

You will be an integral part of the school community and will be expected to be the first point of contact for all students’ medical needs, delivering first aid/emergency care and treating minor injuries and illness.

You will also be responsible for the supervision of the medical room and maintaining accident/incident report forms and will ensure timely communication with parents if students need to be sent home.

You will need to be aware of current developments in school nursing services, primary care and health promotion, and will also have a good knowledge of the health needs of pupils. You will also need an up to date First Aid at Work Qualification. Knowledge of child protection procedures and confidentiality issues are equally important. 

You will also be responsible for supporting the assessment of the mental health and wellbeing needs of pupils and providing mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention approaches in collaboration with the School Counsellor. This forms a large and important part of the role and you will need to have the confidence and skills to understand and engage on mental health issues affecting pupils.

This is a term time only position and the ideal candidate will be able to start ASAP.
