Job overview

We are looking to appoint a qualified Nurse to join the Brambletye team ideally in September 2019, but we would be willing to wait until January 2020 if necessary for an outstanding applicant.

Our School Nurse works as part of our highly regarded and respected Matronal Team.  This is a high profile position and the School Nurse plays a leading and integral role in supporting the health and wellbeing of all our pupils.  The School Nurse operates (.....excuse the pun) right at the heart of the School and this is a very demanding and challenging position but one which also brings great rewards and satisfaction.

We are very open-minded and would welcome applications from nursing professionals who wish to work full or part-time and we would also be willing to consider job-shares.  We are a boarding school that never stops so we are looking for flexibility when it comes to working hours and there will be evening, weekend and on-call work involved with the role.  Ideally, we would like our School Nurse to be residential and accommodation is available however, we would still be very interested to hear from anyone who is passionate about the position but wishes to live-out.

What is not negotiable is that we want to find an outstanding nursing practitioner for our pupils who not only has excellent technical skills and knowledge but who also possesses a warm, caring manner and who is empathetic and understanding.  Excellent communication skills are essential as is enthusiasm, being able to work as part of a team and being able to work under pressure with competing demands.

In return we can offer the chance to become part of the Brambletye family and work in a beautiful school which is set in a stunning location as part of a thriving prep-school.  We are offering a highly competitive salary, accommodation is available, free meals, a supportive work environment and this is a term-time position with a few days to be worked at the start and end of each term.

If you are interested in this position and would like to have an informal chat, we would love to hear from you.  Please contact Mrs Amelia Brooks (Headmaster's Wife) on: (01342) 321004 or email: abrooks@brambletye.com

The closing date for applications is: Wednesday, 3rd July 2019 at 9.00am

Interviews are due to be held: w/c Monday, 8th July 2019.

Please note that early applicants may be invited for an interview before the closing date and the School reserve the right to make the appointment before the formal closing date, therefore early applications are strongly advised.

Brambletye is one of the country's leading co-educational prep schools, with 270 boys and girls currently on the roll.  It was founded at Sidcup Place, Kent in 1919 and moved to its present glorious location in rolling Sussex countryside on the southern outskirts of East Grinstead in 1933. The large country house, in its own wooded estate of 100 acres, overlooks Ashdown Forest and Weir Wood Reservoir. The school became a charitable trust with a board of Governors fifty years later, in 1969. The School has evolved from being a small, all boys boarding school to its present position as a co-educational day and boarding school. Boys and girls continue to go on to many of the leading independent schools in the country, such as King’s Canterbury, Benenden, Charterhouse, Marlborough, Eton, Winchester, Stowe and Lancing .
