St Joseph's College, Lochinvar is seeking a temporary part time (32 hours per week) School Officer – Administration & Finance to join the school community commencing in Term 1, 2021

St Joseph’s College, founded by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1883 is a co-educational secondary school providing a rich and diverse educational experience for 940 students from Years 7 to 12. The College aspires to be a place of learning where students, staff and families are valued and respected for their uniqueness. Located in the stunning Hunter Valley, St Joseph’s has a blend of heritage and modern buildings which include a Chapel & Heritage Centre, new Administration and Resource Centre, a purpose-built hall and associated Café & Hospitality Centre, well equipped, modern Technology/Trade Centre as well as refurbished Performance and Creative Arts spaces.   Position Requirements The School Officer – Administration & Finance will support the Finance Officer, School Executive and School Staff in the day to day finance and administration tasks associated with the school and ensure that all tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner to support the financial management of the school.  The School Officer – Administration and Finance will be required to demonstrate a strong understanding of financial management tasks, strong attention to detail; the highest degree of confidentiality and a commitment to continuous improvement. 

Essential Criteria 

• Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools.

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite especially Microsoft Word and Excel;

• Ability to process financial transactions using computerised software

• Capacity to ensure accurate processing of purchase orders and invoices

• Ability to assist the College Finance Officer in the preparation of accounts for school fees and sundry items

• Proven abaility to be responsible for effective cash handling and assist with processing banking for all cash and cheques received

• Capacity to assist school staff with finance related queries and tasks as required for example sourcing quotes for buses, camps, equipment etc.

• Ability to ensure financial resources/paperwork is maintained at the school as required

• Excellent organisational and time management skills;

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage several tasks concurrently

• Ability to work tolerant of an interrupted working environment

• Ability to foster and promote positive personal relationships with all stakeholders

• Strong attention to detail and high accuracy levels

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including a pleasant telephone manner

• Moderate level computer skills

• Experience working in a school environment or a similar role

Applicants must provide evidence of the following:

• A current First Aid certificate

• Paid Working With Children Check (WWCC)   Desirable Criteria • Experience in a similar role

• Certificate III or IV in Business and / or Finance

Finishing Date: 27/01/2022

Conditions of Employment: Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017.
