We are seeking a School Officer to undertake a range of tasks in supporting the needs of students, under the direction of the Guidance Counsellor, Support Teacher Inclusive Education, and classroom teachers.
The role of the School Officer (Assisting Students with Diverse Needs) is to work with teachers to provide direct support for students with additional and/or diverse needs in their learning and their participation in school life.
About the role:
To support students with additional/diverse needs, in particular, support with developing social emotional skills. This support may occur as targeted activities working directly with students, and in class support to assist with curriculum access and learning engagement.
Skills and Experience:
• Previous experience as a School Officer
• Proven communication and interpersonal skills
• An understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder
• An understanding of social/emotional challenges
• Worked within a classroom
• A willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Demonstrated an ability to apply your skills in supporting students to achieve successful learning outcomes
Applicants must hold a minimum of a Certificate 3 in Educational Support or, equivalent relevant qualification or, appropriate relevant experience.

- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
- hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement; and
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required: 3 days/wk (16.5 hours/wk) Tue, Wed, Thu (negotiable)
Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: School Officer Level 4 - $31.44 per hour
Employment Conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement
This position involves working with children. The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
