All Saint’s College, Maitland is seeking a temporary part-time (18 hours/week) Library Assistant to join the school community commencing ASAP.

All Saints’ College is a coeducational year 7-12 Catholic School which is part of the Catholic Schools Office, Maitland Newcastle Diocese. With approximately 1500 students and 200 staff spread across 2 campuses, we are the largest school in our diocese and one of the largest Catholic Schools in the state. St Peter’s Campus caters for our Year 7-10 students, and St Mary’s Campus caters for our senior students in Years 11 and 12.

Position Requirements

The School Officer - Library Assistant assists the Teacher Librarian and relevant school staff to implement a shared vision for their school community to achieve best practice in learning.

Within a contemporary school learning environment, the role of the School Officer - Library Assistant has two key dimensions:

•Assisting with information and resource management

•Organisational, administrative and clerical support within the school

Library Assistants in a Catholic school have a unique role to play and are assigned with the task of ensuring each child has the opportunity to grow both academically and spiritually and to live purposeful lives.

Note: Where appropriate, the School Officer - Library Assistant may be required by the principal to undertake other duties in the school from time to time.

Essential Criteria

•Applicants must have completed, or will complete (within four years of appointment) a Certificate III: Library and Information Services;

•Demonstrated experience in the use of Oliver Softlink Library software

•Ability to accession and manage the circulation of resources;

•Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively;

•Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school;

•Excellent written communication skills and strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills;

•Demonstrated experience using initiative and self-motivation in the workplace;

•Demonstrated ability in accurately and proficiently performing a wide range of administration tasks;

•Intermediate experience and ability to work with various databases, Microsoft office programs and Excel;

•Demonstrated capacity to organise, prioritise and multi task to meet various deadlines;

•Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and be responsible and accountable for own work with the capacity and willingness to work in a team environment;

• Applicants must have a current Working with Children Clearance and provide date of birth with application for verification purposes.

Desirable Criteria

•Experience in the stocktake and weeding of a virtual and physical collection

•Experience working in a school library environment

•Experience in management of a video learning platform such as ClickView.

Finishing Date: 17/12/2021

Conditions of Employment: Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020.
