Description The School Officer - Library Assistant assists the Teacher Librarian and relevant school staff to implement a shared vision for their school community to achieve best practice in learning.



Within a contemporary school learning environment, the role of the School Officer - Library Assistant has two key dimensions:


• assisting with information and resource management


• organisational, administrative and clerical support within the school

Note: Where appropriate, the School Officer - Library Assistant may be required by the principal to undertake other duties in the school from time to time.
Position Requirements The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle has an abiding commitment to promote the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults - particularly those who participate in the life of the Diocese. All employees are required to undergo a National Police Check and, where legislated, hold a Working with Children Check. Diocesan workers are expected to personally adopt and enact the Diocese’s Safeguarding Commitment Statement.
Essential Criteria • applicants must have completed, or will complete (within four years of appointment) a Certificate III: Library and Information Services

• ability to accession and manage the circulation of resources

• computer literacy and the ability to quickly learn new applications

• have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively

Applicants must have a current Working with Children Clearance and provide with application.
Desirable Criteria • experience in OLIVER operating system

• experience in the stocktake and weeding of a virtual and physical collection

• experience working in a school library environment

• an ability to demonstrate creative skills

St Paul’s Primary School is a two stream K-6, Catholic school located in the town of Rutherford, within the Hunter Valley area of New South Wales. The school currently encompasses 17 classes with a total student enrolment of 450. The school commenced operation in 1957. The school comprised of two sites up until 1981 when the current site was the recipient of significant development to accommodate the entire K-6 population.

St Paul’s School Primary is a large well-resourced K-6 primary school that operates on a site which has undergone significant change, additions and refurbishments since it’s opening in 1957. Today much of the school site is reflective of a modern primary school offering a wide range of quality, comfortable, welcoming learning environments for its 450 students.

Curriculum

The overall curriculum at St Pauls’ School has a strong Religious component that is taught alongside the six key learning areas drawn from the NSW Board of Studies Syllabuses. The curriculum is delivered within a nurturing and caring environment whereby the school’s team of dedicated and experienced teachers provide a positive and enriching program, all the while appreciating the individual needs and interests of the each student.
