Description The position requires the successful applicant to be employed for two 6 hour days (Tuesday and Wednesday) during school hours.
Position Requirements The TAS Workshop Assistant will be required to assist the members of the TAS faculty by performing the following duties. Specific Duties
• Assisting teaching staff clean equipment and maintain the workshop to ensure good working order
• Supporting the TAS faculty in setting up new workshop facilities
• Maintaining hand/power tools and workshop machinery, eg. Table, drop and ban saws; disc sanders; router table; drum sander; laser cutter; CNC router and greasing machinery, etc.
• Assist teaching staff in preparing for practical classes by cutting up stock – timber, metal, acrylic; tool sharpening and the sorting of tools in preparation for use
• Performing a regular risk assessment of each working space to identify any potential hazards and liaising with the TAS Curriculum Leader of Learning to seek immediate rectification once a hazard has been identified
• Carry out a regular stocktake on materials and equipment including the regular auditing and replenishing of the contents of first aid kits
• Maintain the storage area as a tidy and safe storage and working space
• Be part of a team and work closely with, and take direction from, the TAS Leader of Learning and members of the College Leadership Team
Essential Criteria • Skills and qualifications in building and/or carpentry
• Ability to be a self-starter
• Skills and knowledge in the use of hand powered tools, plant equipment, workshop machinery and the maintenance of same
• Ability to work alone unsupervised and as part of a team
• Knowledge of WHS requirements, as applied in a building and construction work setting
• Background in racking and stacking materials in a bulk storage area
• Working With Children number must be recorded on your application

St Marys Senior High School is a co-educational government senior school for students in Years 11-12. Located in St Marys, NSW, this school was the first government high school to cater exclusively to senior students. They have approximately 900 students and 65 teaching staff.
