Qualifications:
• Degree in Psychology
• Post graduate qualifications in mediation, emotional therapy in areas such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, etc. (compulsory)
• High level of English (compulsory). Castellano (compulsory) and Catalan (desirable)
Experience:
• +4 years experience working as a psychologist in a school or clinical setting with adolescents and their families
• Experience of delivering professional training sessions to teachers
• Leadership experience (desirable)

Additional Responsibilities: (dependent upon experience and qualifications)
To lead the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) department throughout the school (dependent upon experience and qualifications)
• Identification of pupils with SEN
• Monitoring of diagnoses
• Specification of support strategies for pupils with SEN (including assistive technologies)
• Monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching and learning for pupils with SEN and exceptionality and the effectiveness of the support provided throughout the school (pupils aged between 3 and 18).
• Communication with parents
• Liaison with agencies providing support outside the school
• Communication with staff
• Provision of regular training and dissemination of information regarding current good practice in ALN provision
• Innovation in the area of ALN
Contract and benefits:
• An indefinite contract, with a four-month trial period
• Social Security paid, ensuring state medical cover
• 190 working days
• Christmas holidays 18-20 days
• Easter holidays: 10 days
• Summer Holidays : 30th June – 31st August
• Local, national or school’s free choice holidays: 12 days total
• Lunches provided free of charge

About the school
Oak House School is a private, co-educational school, situated in Sarrià, in the north of Barcelona. It was founded in 1968.
The school is a Non-Profit Foundation with a Board of Governors. The Board is comprised of seven parents, elected through the Parents’ Association.
We currently have 1108 pupils on roll, aged between 3 and 18 years.
In Early Years and Primary, Oak House School is fully authorised as a British School in Spain. The authorisation is awarded by the British Council, following a rigorous inspection by British inspectors. The school is a member of the National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS).
The Oak House Secondary department complies fully with the requirements of the Catalan education system and is an authorised International Baccalaureate World School, offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to our 16 to 18 year old pupils.
Our Secondary pupils are also prepared for Cambridge International Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams in a range of subjects and Cambridge English Language exams from First Certificate to Proficiency level.
The high quality of teaching, the individual attention afforded to each pupil and the wide range of resources provided are factors which define Oak House School. One of the ways in which we do this is to support both local and international charities, collaborating with the United Nations International Childrens’ Fund (UNICEF) through the ‘School-in-a-box’ programme. Our pupils and families are involved in a variety of fundraising initiatives throughout the year. Secondary pupils also take part in community service projects.
Pupil support
We support each individual pupil in a number of ways. The essential support is provided by the class tutor and the teaching staff. The class tutor monitors each pupil’s academic progress and deals with any personal or social issues which may arise. The tutor provides the main link between the home and school and ensures that parents are well informed about their son/daughter’s academic progress and emotional well-being in school.
Technology
Technology is used at Oak House School to support and enhance learning whenever appropriate. We teach our pupils the skills that they will need in an ever-developing technological world. However, we also recognise that teachers and parents play essential roles in ensuring that students are not over-dependent on technology, in either their learning or their social interactions.
Classrooms and laboratories are well equipped to take advantage of the latest technologies and to allow all pupils individual access to a variety of devices.
Dining service
All food is prepared on the school premises and our menus are carefully monitored by a nutritionist. A vegetarian menu is offered and special dietary requirements are catered for.
