We are seeking a School Secretary to undertake a diverse range of tasks within our Primary School. This front office role provides information services to parents, prospective parents, staff, students and the wider school community.

The successful applicant will display:
• proven communication, clerical and interpersonal skills;
• an understanding of the working of a primary school;
• be confident to administer first aid to students and will have experience and knowledge in the use technology;
• proficiency with the Microsoft suite including Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook;
• a sound knowledge of BCE's eMinerva System is highly desirable.

St Pius V, Banyo, situated 14kms north east of the CBD and 10 minutes drive from the airport, is a co-educational primary school established in the tradition of St Mary of the Cross Mackillop, with a current enrolment of 500 students. Our learning environment is state of the art with modern, contemporary classrooms conducive to learning. Our facilities include a pool, multi-purpose hall, basketball / netball court and oval set in spacious gardened surrounds. Our welcoming community proudly lives out our motto 'Live, Love, Learn'. 



To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Position Tenure:  Continuing

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term): 

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required: 4 days/week (30 hours/week) - Monday to Thursday

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: School Officer Level 4 - $32.23 per hour

Employment Conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement

As from 23 January 2022 all BCE Schools will be an environment where all employees are fully COVID vaccinated as directed by the Queensland Chief Health Officer.

This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
