Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, well organised, and self-motivated person to take on the role of Site & Facilities Supervisor who will be responsible for the management and maintenance of our new SEMH school site in Birmingham to a high standard.

The experience and qualities we are looking for:

  • Able and willing to undertake minor repairs, general & planned maintenance, cleaning and porterage across the site.
  • Be able to complete minor projects.
  • Carry out statutory checks as required, before the start of school, during the day, or after school.
  • Undertake regular periodic checks & maintain accurate site maintenance records & risk assessments for: asbestos visual check, weekly fire alarm call point tests, water temperature tests, first aid box checks, emergency lighting tests, fire door checks, operation of fire exits, fire extinguisher tests, ladder checks, PAT tests & equipment condition checks.
  • To ensure that all equipment and materials are used in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines and School policy.
  • Experience of the management, development, security and safety of site buildings and grounds. (Desirably but not essentially in a school setting)
  • Experience of managing contractors.
  • Has excellent knowledge/experience of health and safety (a recognised Health and Safety qualification would be an advantage (IOSH/NEBOSH)
  • Has a professional and friendly approach and a “can do” attitude
  • Is an excellent team player
  • Able to ensure all equipment and chemicals are used and handled correctly at all times, in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and COSHH Regulations.
  • Site duties include, but are not exhaustive of, assisting all staff with their general duties including furniture moving, moving heavy goods and room set-up/breakdown
  • Acting as one of the School’s Fire Officers with responsibility for maintaining the School’s Fire Policy and Fire Risk Assessment
  • Can use IT systems effectively
  • To act as key holder and be responsible for the opening and closing of the building.
  • To ensure the building is checked for vandalism and graffiti.
  • General porterage duties, including receipt of goods and reasonable movement of furniture, including the setting up of examinations when required.
  • Provide grounds maintenance, external litter picking as necessary and, when time permits, to ensure tidy access and grass areas.
