Who we are

Hatfield Community Free School is a two form entry single academy trust Primary School in Hatfield. It was opened in September 2012 to serve the needs of extra places in the Primary phase. In September 2018, the school finally reached its full capacity of 420 pupils. Hatfield Community Free School is a very special place in which to learn. It is vibrant and innovative and thrives on setting high standards in all aspects of the lives of our children. We care deeply about the talents and interests of each individual and nurture our children on their holistic learning journey. The moment you enter the school you will notice how special the children are to us and you will be greeted by caring and supportive adults who are there to help. We pride ourselves on listening to yours and your children’s views and communicate with you as effective as we can. All of the children are central to our vision and it is for them that we have developed a school which shapes a better future for all our families. We develop the whole child to be resilient and respectful as a citizen as well as aspiring to reach high academic results.

Vision

At Hatfield Community Free School, we believe every member of our school community deserves the best from each moment they are with us. We do this so that our mission of inspiring, enriching and nurturing the lives of our pupils to enable them to reach their full potential can become a reality. The individual child is central to our approach. We ensure everyone has access to broad and balanced teaching and learning experiences, as well as nurturing environments, which prepares them to be happy and confident citizens as well as life-long learners. We place an emphasis on six core values that we believe to be important in the creation of free thinking, curious, resilient and conscientious members of society. We work tirelessly on building and nurturing respectful relationships and use the Thrive® Approach to prepare our children for life’s emotional ups and downs. All cultures, faiths and beliefs are valued at HCFS creating an understanding that all human beings should be treated equally and inclusively.

We need Trustees to join the Hatfield Community Free School Trust (HCFST) Want to make a difference in your local community, and develop your own skills in a board-level environment? By volunteering as a trustee, you can do both and make a valuable contribution to children’s education, opportunities, and futures. Being part of a trust board will give you experience of working at a strategic level and the opportunity to gain experience and practice skills that have a direct relevance to employers. At HCFST the Trust Board acts as the governing body and individuals on the board are called trustees. There is also a small group of Members who meet annually and hold the Trust Board to account. The board has a key role helping the school run effectively. It is important that it comprises a group of representative trustees from a diverse range of backgrounds, covering a wide range of skills and experience who are passionate about education. Overall, the role of the Trust Board can be described as monitoring and evaluating the progress of the school. This involves being curious, critical, and confident in asking tough questions. As a trustee, you should be good at problem-solving, and prepared to give and take advice. You must also be professional – many of your decisions will be made in strict confidence. HCFS seeks a diverse Board and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. Please see the school website, particularly our virtual tour, to find out more about our excellent facilities Home - Hatfield Community Free School (hcfs.org.uk) If you would

like to know more we would love to hear from you.  You can also find the

Trust recruitment pack and other relevant documents attached.  Alternately

you can email the Chair of the Board, Gill Jones at

chairoftrustees@hcfs.org.uk. We are an equal opportunities employer, committed to the safeguarding of children. All postholders will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
