SCHOOL DATA PROTECTION OFFICER 

Part time (25 hours per week/40 weeks per year)

St Mary Magdalene C of E School works in partnership with Christ Church C of E Primary (East Greenwich), Christ Church C of E Primary (Shooters Hill), Bishop John Robinson C of E Primary, St Alfege with St Peter’s C of E Primary, St Margaret’s C of E Primary and Eltham C of E Primary to form the Alliance of Greenwich Anglican Schools (AGAS).   

AGAS are currently recruiting for a School Data Protection Officer (SDPO) to ensure good practice in data protection, safeguarding, health and safety and governance across our schools.  The successful candidate will be instrumental in the implementation of the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and therefore, knowledge of this legislation would be an advantage.      

The successful candidate will work closely with all AGAS schools to develop, embed and ensure policies and processes are robust and effective, ensuring that data protection is adhered to in all areas.  You will deliver high quality training to all colleagues, including governors, to ensure that they are fully aware of their responsibilities and take an active role in promoting best practice across all AGAS schools.  

The role offers a combination of school-based/home-based working with flexible hours and ad hoc overtime in the event of any breach of data regulation.  This is a new, diverse role which will provide an exciting opportunity to work with some of the best schools in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

• experienced in managing data protection compliance/law (desirable)

• educated to degree level or have relevant professional experience (desirable)

• experienced in using SIMS (School Information Management System) (desirable)

About St Mary Magdalene C of E School

We are a Federation of two schools - St Mary Magdalene CofE School and Christ Church CofE Primary School - located over four sites in Royal Greenwich, we work together as one team.      

St Mary Magdalene CofE School was judged 'GOOD' by Ofsted in Summer 2018 and 'OUTSTANDING' in all areas in a 2018 SIAMS inspection.

Christ Church CofE Primary School was judged 'GOOD' by Ofsted in Spring 2017 

There are two St. Mary Magdalene primary sites: our Woolwich Campus has two forms of entry across the primary phase in all year groups; our Peninsula Campus has one Reception class on the Peninsula Site, one Year 1 classes, two Year 2 classes and one Year 3 class.  The school expansion will result in a total of 840 primary places by 2020. 

Christ Church CofE Primary School is a one-form entry primary school with 30 places available in each year group.
