At Ambitious about Autism, we're currently looking for a Schools Engagement Officer to join our team on a 2 year FTC.


This role is part of a new project called ‘Autistic and OK', funded by a major financial services organisation. The aim of the project is to deliver a peer support programme focussing on preventative mental health in mainstream secondary schools to transform the lives of autistic young people and their caregivers. This project and role will sit within the Participation Team.


You'll develop and maintain relationships with mainstream secondary schools, designing and delivering a dissemination strategy that reaches a high volume of schools in order to influence their practice. You'll educate stakeholders on the benefits of implementing the project in an engaging and persuasive way, design presentations that are both informative and enjoyable to learn and deliver presentations confidently and passionately.


You'll provide schools with Autistic and OK co-developed resources so they can implement the programme in their schools. You'll regular engage with the Ambitious Youth Network through calls, emails and newsletters.

 

Our Participation Programme plays a key part in delivering our new three-year strategy from Autumn 2021. Under the strategy we will expand and develop our Ambitious Youth Network nationally to empower autistic young people to connect with each other, understand their autism, be empowered to make decisions about their lives and influence social change.


We are looking for someone who has:

  • Knowledge of the education sector and experience working in or with schools, preferably mainstream secondary schools
  • Previous experience in an account or relationship management role (or similar)
  • Ability to disseminate and present complex information to a variety of audiences
  • Proven experience in scaling up projects and meeting targets

The Ambitious about Autism Schools Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust that shares Ambitious about Autism’s vision and mission. Through the Trust, we are developing more schools to reach the autistic children and young people who need our specialist support.

In 2014, the trust set up our first special free school, The Rise School, in west London. In 2023, the Ambitious about Autism Schools Trust opened Spring School, a new special free school in Kingston, south west London. Spring School is dedicated to educating autistic pupils aged 4–19.
