Job overview

Schools (Science) Learning Officer, Garden Museum, London SE1 7LB

Do you have a passion for plants and teaching plant science? Are you interested in working with secondary school pupils within a Museum?

The Garden Museum reopened in May 2017 after an £8 million restoration and extension and we are looking for a new member of the Learning team to join us as we move forward. This role, funded by the Heritage Lottery fund, will be dedicated to schools and a particular aspiration is to develop plant science learning.

The role is part-time (0.6) and fixed term, for three years, reporting to the Head of Learning. The third member of the team is a Food Learning Officer. Two new purpose built learning spaces have been built around our new garden designed by Dan Pearson.

The key aims of the role are to develop and deliver a new secondary school programme up to Key Stage 5 that will attract secondary schools to visit and to build on the existing primary programme adding new plant science sessions; delivering these in conjunction with the Head of Learning.

Application is by CV and cover letter.  Deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 30th April.

First interviews will be held from the week beginning 7th May 2018. Second interviews will be held on days and times around the candidate's work commitments.

The Museum is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Successful applicants will need to undertake a DBS enhanced clearance.
