We’re looking for a Science & Design Technology Technician to join the Oak Tree School team. Someone who is organised and self-motivated would be perfect for this role. 


About the School

Oak Tree School is a specialist provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 65 children and young people aged 7 to 16 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These children and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.

About the Role

The technician will provide technical support to the DT and Science department by preparing tools, equipment and materials for lessons. The DT and Science Technician will undertake a practical health and safety role for the relevant department.

The technician role forms a central part of the work of the department and he/she will work closely with teaching staff to support, develop and further extend the work of the department and the experiences of the students. 


Who we are looking for

Applicants would benefit from relevant previous experience and familiarity with the handling of chemicals, scientific and/or DT machinery/equipment but this is not essential as relevant training would be given to suitable candidates.
