Kaitaia College is a full Year 9-13 secondary school with a roll of 880-890 students, 75% of which are Maori. The school has a strong sense of connection with the community. The school’s main focus is on developing well rounded students. They look to support outcomes for their students across their five key domains; Taha Hinengaro (Curriculum), Taha Whanau (Social/Service), Taha Wairua (Health), Taha Tinana (Sports) and Te ha o te Mauri (Cultural and the Arts).

As a Science/Chemistry teacher at Kaitaia College you’ll be required to deliver Junior Science and Senior Chemistry to enthuse young learners. You will have belief in young people, value working collaboratively to maximise the success of the students, have commitment to working in a multi-cultural, student-focused school and be involved in extra-curricular school life.

You’ll be working in a well-resourced department run by an experienced Head of Learning. Kaitaia College now boasts a state of the art Science Facility after a 2.8 million dollar rebuild. The kura is also soon to begin an upgrade of their IT capacity and a move towards BYOD in the junior school in 2017. Staff morale is incredibly high with new staff routinely recognising the whanau focussed culture in the kura.

About Kaitaia College

Kaitaia College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, international secondary school with sixth form in New Zealand, serving students from the age of 13-18. The secondary school, situated in Kaitaia has approximately 851 students on record. 

Kaitaia College opened in 1921 and has strong links with the community’s Dalmatian and European heritage.
