Blackfen School is a progressive and vibrant learning community that focuses on raising the aspirations and releasing the potential of every young person in our care. In 2019, 60% of students in year 11 achieved five or more GCSE 9-4 grades, including at least a 4 in English and a 4 in Mathematics. Our Progress 8 score was 0.018. At A level in 2019, 96% of the grades were A*-E with 30% at A*-B and 63% at A*-C. Similarly, high levels were achieved in Level 3 BTEC qualifications.
Our flourishing Sixth Form offers a wide range of courses at AS and A2 level, as well as vocational level 2 and 3 courses.
We are looking to appoint a pro-active, calm and well organised Science Lab Assistant. The individual must ensure that the department’s laboratories and service areas are clean and that Health and Safety regulations are rigorously met.
The successful applicant will ideally have previous experience of working in a similar role. They will have sound organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines. The ability to work as part of a team is essential.
The Department consists of 10 experienced Science teachers and 9 well equipped laboratories with two large prep rooms and additional storage rooms.
Successful candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Check.
