Job overview

We are seeking an inspirational and enthusiastic Science Lab Technician to join our friendly School as it continues to expand.  The successful candidate will help to consolidate and develop excellence in the delivery of Science teaching (Chemistry, Biology and Physics) across both the Lower School (11 - 16 years), where GCSEs are taken, and the Sixth Form for A levels.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and passionate scientist, well organised and committed to helping raise the achievements of our students.  You will be joining a strong, enthusiastic team of subject specialists with a track record of success.  You will report to the Head of Science.

Much of your time is likely to be spent at KPS Sixth Form: a gorgeous town house in South Kensington right next door to the Museums.  The science labs are well equipped with the  preparation room adjacent to them.  All of the classrooms are bright and spacious with large display panels that are linked to the network via Vivi.  This enables staff to use a tablet device to display teaching resources or use as an interactive whiteboard.  Each student is given their own electronic device.  Class sizes normally have a maximum of 12 students.

The School is committed to providing excellent professional development and training. Staff will be offered a great deal of support alongside many opportunities to share resources and good practice.  This opportunity will allow you to be part of a growing school in a fantastic location, working alongside like-minded colleagues and guided by inspirational, experienced managers.

Welcome to Kensington Park School.

Split across two sites on either side of Kensington Gardens, Kensington Park School offers boys and girls aged 11 to 18 an exceptionally well-rounded education in the heart of central London.

An academically purposeful school, our central purpose is, above all, to enable potential, and each student is excited, challenged, and inspired to become the best possible version of themselves. Small class sizes, coupled with a broad and balanced curriculum and outstanding pastoral care, not only prepares students for exceptional GCSE and A Level results, but enables them to develop skills they need to succeed in a fast-paced and ever-changing world.

We believe that young people flourish when they feel happy, confident, and challenged. This core belief underpins all that we do in our school, which has a friendly, family atmosphere and focuses on the individual.

At the heart of our success is the strength of partnership that exists between our staff, students, and their families. We believe that every young person should feel a sense of belonging in our school community and enjoy their learning. As a consequence, our students will leave with the skills and resources they need to take the next step in their lives, confident in their strengths and prepared to meet the challenges of the future.

The underlying philosophy of our school aims to prepare our students for their futures in a rapidly changing world by encouraging critical thinking, adaptability, and taking increasing responsibility for one’s own learning and actions whilst striving for personal academic excellence. The ethos of the school is built on mutual respect between staff and students alongside a strong culture of inclusiveness and openness, which also provides freedom for individual ambition and expression.

Our school values are summarised by the KPS REACH Code, which emphasizes Responsibility, Empathy, Ambition, Courage, and Humility.

We are unapologetically ambitious for every young person in our care, and for the school as a whole. This determination to provide a brilliant mix of motivated students and dedicated staff is part of what makes KPS such a vibrant and positive place to study and work.
