Job overview

Ripley Court School is a popular, independent, co-educational preparatory school for 3–11-year-olds set in 19 acres of beautiful Surrey countryside including extensive playing fields and a Forest School. The school celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2018 and merged with Reed’s School in Cobham in November 2019. Reed’s School is one of the leading secondary independent day and boarding Schools in the country, providing an education for around 800 pupils.

We are currently looking to appoint a Class Teacher who will be responsible for teaching pupils at Key Stage 2, specifically in Science. The role-holder will be expected to provide an inspirational, fun and broad curriculum for children at the appropriate national curriculum level, which reflects the School’s ethos and promotes a life-long love of learning. The role-holder will also be required to teach the Science curriculum for Key Stage 2 pupils. Therefore, there will be a requirement for the role-holder to have experience of teaching Science at this level or, alternatively, have a relevant Science qualification.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to support our School ethos by not only providing excellent teaching, but through supporting pupils’ wider development with excellent pastoral care and a willingness to become involved in the School's extra-curricular programme.

This role will be based at Ripley Court School and will be full time.

For Safer Recruitment purposes all applicants must complete a Reed’s and Ripley Court Schools application form. Applicants are also welcome to submit supporting documents if desired.

Full details including a job description and application form can be found on our website or alternatively by emailing hr@reeds.surrey.sch.uk.

The closing date for applications is midday, Monday 19 June 2023.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit a completed application as soon as possible. The School reserves the right to interview and appoint before the closing date, should a suitable candidate present themselves.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

Reed’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Ripley Court is a fully co-educational school for 3 -11 year olds set in 20 beautiful acres just minutes from the A3 and equidistant from Cobham, Weybridge, Woking and Guildford. Ripley Court has for years been preparing children for entry to top independent schools. Its secret for success is to combine strong academic rigor with important but less-measurable values in life, such as kindness, respect, gentleness, and fun. The school has excellent performances in exams, senior school entries and scholarships as well as success in sports, music and art. Such achievements are important but each child’s happiness and well-being is valued more. Past pupils of all generations speak of a wonderful childhood at Ripley, being outdoors and having time to be children, but at the same time achieving highly in life.

Reed's School and Ripley Court School are committed to being a successful, caring and welcoming place for all employees. We want to create a supportive and inclusive environment where our employees can reach their full potential, without prejudice and discrimination. We are committed to a culture where respect and understanding is fostered and the diversity of people's backgrounds and circumstances will be positively valued.
