Job overview

This role is both challenging, rewarding and creative. You will work with small groups of pupils who have not succeeded in mainstream education. Your role is to enable these young people with their varying abilities and different needs, to aim high and achieve the best they can.

You will have the energy and vision to lead the improvement of science whilst also being a member of the highly committed team currently involved in turning this school around. We are looking for enthusiasm, effective teaching, the ability to work, communicate and engage with challenging pupils.

We welcome applications from those relatively new to the profession as well as those with greater experience.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a highly effective teacher with a proven track record of engaging pupils and securing excellent outcome
  • Have an up-to-date knowledge of the subject and assessment requirements
  • Be proficient in planning and teaching Science at KS3 and KS4
  • Lead the department in the raising of achievement through motivating, challenging and inspiring our pupils
  • Have a keen interest in the well-being of young people
  • Have drive, enthusiasm, resilience, warmth and a sense of humour
  • Be committed to our ethos and to high expectations
  • Have opportunities to contribute to the wider life and ethos of the Academy.
