Job overview

Science Teacher (2 roles available)

Are you a highly ambitious, motivated and enthusiastic teacher who can teach Science (preference for Physics or Biology) up to A Level? If so then this may be the job for you……

You will join our thriving team of staff and students at an extremely exciting time. IKB welcomed its first students in September 2015 and as we enter our second year in our new purpose built accommodation on the Wellsway School Campus we are seeking to appoint a number of talented and inspirational teachers not only to meet the aims and ambitions of the school but also to support us as we grow having attracted significantly increased applications into Year 10 and 12 for September 2016.

IKB is a 14- 19 academy and part of Wellsway Multi Academy Trust, a growing group of schools in East Bristol and Bath, incorporating Aspire Academy, IKB Studio School, Sir Bernard Lovell Academy, St John’s Church of England Primary School, The Bath Studio School and Wellsway School.

We provide high quality qualifications in line with our high aspirations for student achievement alongside key skills and experiences that will enable our students to apply successfully for the most competitive university and apprenticeship places within the STEM areas of academia and industry.

Our curriculum offers a popular range of vocational and academic qualifications to ensure every student meets their full potential and personal goals for the future. We value the place of Science at the core of our curriculum and this is reflected in the compulsory nature of separate sciences for all at GCSE.

For a suitably qualified candidate there is the opportunity of a TLR; example areas of responsibility include:

  • Lead Coach – Leading the coaching programme with responsibility for delivery of the CREATE framework, PSHE/SMSC
  • BfL Lead – Setting up and running school systems to support behaviour for learning, parental engagement and attendance
  • Leading Teaching – Supporting and coaching staff in their teaching so this remains a key strength of the school, supporting our aims and ethos

The TLR element of this job is entirely optional therefore candidates who are not interested in the TLR opportunity should apply.

The successful candidate will also contribute to the direction and growth of the school promoting the values of a Studio School and fully preparing students for their futures. As a dedicated team at IKB we will offer bespoke professional development and support alongside the wider opportunities offered as part of the Wellsway Multi Academy Trust.

If you would like to find out more about the opportunity please email Marina Georgiadi mgeorgiadi@theikbstudioschool.org.uk who can arrange an informal telephone call with the Principal.
