Job overview

Could you be a teacher in Greig City Academy’s Science Faculty? We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Science Teacher to join a successful and motivated department in our school. As part of this professional and dedicated team you will be instrumental in inspiring and motivating our students. Our forward thinking Faculty takes a collaborative and supportive approach to the development of its staff and you will play a key role in continuing to raise standards. This post is suitable for an NQT.

The Science Faculty at Greig City Academy has a wealth of knowledge and a passion for inspiring, engaging and developing our students’ minds. We encourage our students to think for themselves and place a high value on practical work, giving them the opportunity to make sense of the work around them. We collaborate and support each other by sharing good practice and taking a team approach with a focus on collective responsibility.  We understand the importance of STEM and ensure this is reflected in both our curriculum and through the extra-curricular opportunities we offer our students.

The school boasts a really positive and supportive relationship between managers and staff and between staff and pupils. Paul Sutton, our Principal, encourages teachers to have an impact beyond their subject and he is always available and happy to discuss ideas with you as to how this can be achieved. We have an impressive range of extra-curricular activities and all our staff are involved in running at least one. Ours is a caring and well-ordered environment in which all students can enjoy learning, develop enquiring minds and acquire the skills and knowledge they need for a changing world. Every day we see the results of our efforts in students who work responsibly and with consideration for others – they are the best ambassadors for the school.

The personal development of all our staff is highly valued at GCA and we offer the opportunity to apply for our Learning Award of up to £2,400 per year for your continued professional development or other skills and talents. This is in addition to the school’s ongoing CPD programme. Other benefits staff can opt into include a cycle to work scheme and an interest-free annual season ticket loan.

GCA has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and has safer recruitment procedures in place for the selection of staff. It is committed to the principle of equal opportunities; we welcome all applicants and value the diversity they bring.

Please download the application form via the school’s website and email your completed application to voxley@greigcityacademy.co.uk

The closing date for receiving completed application forms is 3pm on Tuesday 28th January 2020.

Please note that we reserve the right to close or extend this position depending on application numbers, therefore we would urge candidates to submit an application at their earliest opportunity.
