Haute Vallée is a vibrant, ambitious and caring school with a strong inclusive ethos. Our goal is to nurture our students and provide opportunities for all students to reach their full academic potential. The school opened in 1998 and enjoys an outstanding range of facilities and resources which include a 350-seat purpose-built theatre and drama studio, a large sports hall with climbing wall, a six lane 25 metre swimming pool, a modern gymnasium and an excellent library facility.

The school promotes "Pride In All We Do" and we want all students to be thinking and acting upon this at all times. We encourage students to be ambitious, care for and respect one another and to promote teamwork in all aspects of school life.

Haute Vallée School serves the centre of the Island, and a key focus is on building Community and strong Partnerships with local organisations and businesses. We value and build upon the partnership between school and home. Parents are expected to work closely with us through regular meetings and communication with the school.

The taught curriculum is innovative and aims to meet the needs of all abilities. Alongside of the academic curriculum we also provide a wealth of extra-curricular experiences and activities, supporting students to develop skills to become life-long learners. The vast majority of our students progress to Higher Education at 16, either to study a vocational route, A-Levels or the International Baccalaureate.

The curriculum during the Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) covers all the core and foundation subjects required by the Jersey Curriculum.  In Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11) the curriculum is significantly broadened to give a choice of optional subjects which includes GCSE, BTEC and a range of vocational, and work-related qualifications.

Year 7 begin life at Haute Vallee within Horizon which provides the perfect start to secondary school. Students thrive in this vibrant, nurturing ‘school within a school’  providing the perfect bridge from primary to secondary. A unique, caring and supportive team of staff will tutor and teach students the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Humanities. Other aspects of the curriculum are taught in the subject base of the school allowing transition between primary and secondary to be seamless. Students leave Horizon fully prepared for life in Year 8 having grown in confidence, engaged and passionate about learning while forming strong and lasting relationships with their peers. Student well-being and happiness is at the very core of this child-centered approach to learning.

The school year always ends with a week of activities at the end of the summer term, providing students with exciting educational visits to the UK and Europe, as well as a range of activities on-island. These experiences give students the opportunity to learn about new cultures and histories, whilst developing their leadership and team-work skills.

We give opportunities for students to become involved in the strategic direction of the school through form, year and student council membership. In Year 11, student prefects will take on considerable responsibilities and contribute more directly in the running of the school and planning of fund-raising activities and sports events. The celebration of good work is central to our rewards structure, whilst a strong and effective House system encourages ownership and participation from many students.

We have a strong reputation for providing effective support to all students, in order to make good progress with their learning. Our staff work closely with students to improve self-esteem and build positive social and behavioural skills. The Learning Support Department deliver a programme of structured support to meet the individual and specific learning needs of students on the inclusion register.

We insist on the highest standards of behaviour and we expect all students to set ambitious personal goals, to develop their individual strengths and talents and, most importantly, to enjoy learning. We are a happy school, we take a collective pride in our achievements and we will ensure that all stakeholders can contribute fully to the Haute Vallée Community.
