About Thamesview School

Thamesview School is an oversubscribed Local Authority school. It is a mixed sex 11-18 school with over 800 pupils currently on roll. One third of students are from disadvantaged backgrounds and the school has seen rapidly improving examination results over the past five years. Thamesview is a secondary modern school in a selective area.

The school was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted in 2014 and maintained this rating at our recent inspection in June 2018. 52% of pupils gained a 4+ in English and Maths in 2018 with 65% of pupils achieving a 4+ in English and 63% of pupils achieving a 4+ in Maths. The school has adapted well to the new tougher examination system and the challenges it brings.

Thamesview is at an exciting time in its history. A new sixth form provision was established in 2017 with a small group of pupils studying the IBCP (International Baccalaureate Career related Programme). Plans are in place to steadily grow the sixth form provision. The school is expanding with an increase in the PAN from 150 to 180 in September 2018 and a planned increase to 210 in September 2020.

Thamesview is an IB World School and as such imbues the IB vision into all school business. Our vision is to provide an inclusive school where all members of the community strive to fulfil the principles of the IB so that pupils are:

  • Inquirers
  • Knowledgeable
  • Thinkers
  • Communicators
  • Principled
  • Open-minded
  • Caring
  • Balanced
  • Reflective
  • Risk-takers
