Salary £23,720 – £35,008 plus SEN allowance (£2,149)

Hours 32.5 per week. Monday-Friday

We are seeking a Science Teacher to cover maternity leave for 12 months.  The ideal candidate will be available to start with us from June 2019.

Rossendale is a school catering for the needs of pupils who display social, emotional and mental health difficulties and whose learning disability may be affected by an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Pupils will have either a Statement of SEN or an EHCP.  

The School provides education for young people aged from 7 – 18 years of age.  At Keystage 4 we currently offer up to 11 GCSE subjects (including Maths and Statistics), iGCSE in Further Maths, BTEC Awards in 4 subjects, plus 3 Functional Skills and Entry Level in 5 subject areas.  Given the disrupted nature of our pupils’ education, prior to their admission to Rossendale, we have had some outstanding examination results.  The school admits both boys and girls, both on daily and residential placements. 

The post is required to deliver a new curriculum area to meet the changing needs of our pupils, under the direction of one of our Assistant Headteachers.  As an additional subject in our curriculum the successful candidate will be expected to prepare and enter pupils for appropriate external examinations. 

The successful candidate will be expected to ensure that pupils’ special educational needs are being addressed, having due regard for the School's philosophy and policies.  The post holder will be expected to implement IEPs for pupils.

If you have experience of working with young people in a school setting, are flexible, imaginative and enthusiastic we would be pleased to hear from you.  Experience of working in a specialist school is not essential as the school runs its own extensive training programme.

Any candidates shortlisted will be invited to attend a informal Interview day on  Thursday 9th May and if successful at this stage, a formal interview on Friday 10 May.
