Job overview

Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL) is looking for a full time Science teacher with a Physics specialism to begin in February 2022 or earlier depending on availability. This is a unique opportunity; SSL benefits from the vision, security, systems and excellent reputation of an established school whilst offering an exciting opportunity to have a pioneering impact on the lives of our students.

The BSN focuses on organic growth and has prided itself for always having a place for any student wanting a British curriculum education since 1931. To meet increasing demand and ensure quality of the teaching provision, the BSN has expanded its Junior School Leidschenveen (JSL) campus to include a senior school. This development is testament to the BSN’s ambition to create a learning continuum for ages 3-18 with purpose-built design. The senior school is currently in its fourth year of existence with 245 students, aged 11-15 (Years 7 to 10). SSL will grow over the next few years until it reaches capacity as an 11-18 school (approximately 500 students.)

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have strong English national curriculum knowledge, a successful track record in teaching science at Key Stage 3, as well as Physics to GCSE and at post-16 level. A willingness to fully engage in the extra-curricular life of the school will be expected. There will be leadership opportunities in the future for the right candidate.

The Role

Science is taught in mixed ability groups in Years 7 and 8 before being taught as the discrete subjects from Year 9.  Our first GCSE cohort started in September 2021. At GCSE students either follow AQA Trilogy Science or the separate sciences.  At Post 16, the intention is students will study either IBDP or IBCP pathways and SSL has just been accepted as an IBO Candidate School.

Application Process

Please submit your application via our website, where  you can upload your CV and motivational letter, which should be no longer than two sides of A4, addressed to James Oxlade indicating how your experience to date has prepared you for this position.

Applications must reach us by 23.00 (CET) on Sunday 5 December.
