Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, inspirational teacher of Science with the ability to teach Chemistry at NCEA Levels 2 and 3 along with General Science at Years 9, 10 and 11.

Our student body and curriculum cover a wide range, including top level academic students aiming for competitive tertiary courses.  Our students are friendly, sporty and ambitious, and we offer many co-curricular opportunities for personal development.

Kaipara has many outdoor adventure opportunities, including a beautiful beach and fresh water lakes.  We are only two hours from Auckland in the warm subtropical Northland.

We provide a traditional academic education, underpinned by high quality pastoral care and co-curricular activities.

We are a relatively small school, ambitious for our students, seeing each individual as unique, with their own strengths and needs.  We want our students to enjoy their school life, be inspired to be inquisitive in their lesson, whilst providing each one of them with an academic challenge that enables them to realise their potential.

About Dargaville High School

Welcome to Dargaville High School. 

Located in the North Island of New Zealand, Dargaville High School is a decile 3, co-ed state secondary school, teaching students from Years 9 to 13. Our rural school has an impressive record of achievement in academic, sporting and cultural fields. Many of our former students have gone on to great success in the worlds of science, politics, business and sport.

Dargaville High School and its adjacent boarding hostel is set in spacious grounds with its own swimming pool, and has well-equipped classrooms as well as specialist computing, drama, science and technology rooms. With a roll of just over 550, including adult students, the School is small enough to provide personal care and attention, but large enough to offer a range of subjects and activities to challenge our students so that they achieve their best.

Our aim is to provide a quality education to every student who attends our school. Dargaville High School encourages every student to develop and enhance their talents and we support them in a very special environment of care and concern. Dargaville High School has a past with many proud traditions, serving the community of the Northern Wairoa, Northland, New Zealand since 1921.
