Humberston Academy is now recruiting for a Science Teacher with responsibilities to be negotiated with the successful applicant if appropriate. Are you a an outstanding, ambitious, inspirational Science teacher? Would you like to be part of an organisation that consistently achieves academic outcomes in the top 10% nationally?

There may also be a possibility of a TLR (2.1 £3017.00) to a suitable candidate to lead on enrichment or Head of Year 7 and Primary Liaison plus a Recruitment and Retention allowance of £3,000, plus a possible relocation allowance.

The successful applicant will be part of a department that has performed consistently above national average in all examinations delivered. The department thrives on good humour and teamwork, delivering a knowledge rich curriculum in well-resourced classrooms with a student centred philosopy.

The successful applicant will be part of a team that has a variety of specialised teachers, all offering support and guidance to each other, which creates a positive and hardworking ethos. They are eager to access the most up to date research and always go above and beyond to ensure all students meet their potential.

Applicants are required to be driven, motivated and enthusiastic to deliver Science up to KS4.

At Humberston Academy we are passionate about providing a traditional curriculum which not only develops life skills but prepares each student for adulthood and a successful career.

Students in the academy show a real enthusiasm for science and are acutely aware of the link between the subject and the world of work.

About our Academy

Humberston Academy is an oversubscribed ‘outstanding’ academy located in an affluent area of North East Lincolnshire. As well as being an Ofsted graded outstanding academy, Humberston Academy achieved ‘World Class Schools’ status in December 2019 and re-accredited in 2022. Humberston Academy continues to deliver incredible opportunities to young people with a specific focus on STEM enrichment and favourable links to the apprenticeships industry as well as traditional route towards higher education.

Humberston Academy has also been appointed as the Teaching School Hub for the local region which will allow all colleagues to access leading edge career professional development in order to enhance the standard of teaching as well as the opportunity to deliver CPD to colleagues locally in our profession.

Who we are looking for

  • High standards of teaching and learning
  • A good degree in a specialist subject teaching qualification
  • Nationally recognised teaching qualification
  • High level skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to teach Science across Key Stages 3-4
  • A strong classroom teacher, demonstrating ability to innovate
  • Understanding of the importance of a knowledge rich Science curriculum
  • Able to showcase evidence of the use of technology in teaching and learning
  • Be flexible and responsive to a changing educational environment
  • Contribute to whole school initiatives
  • Committed to working co-operatively with young people; able to communicate sensitively, imaginatively and effectively with them
  • Able to communicate effectively with parents to represent the Academy positively and feedback information as appropriate
  • Willing to contribute to the professional development regionally as a Teaching Schools Hub and as hub for NMAPS SCITT H
  • Have high expectations of what students and staff can achieve
  • Fully supportive of the aims and ethos of Humberston Academy

A total of 84% of students at Humberston Academy achieved 4 to 9 in GCSE Maths this summer. In English, the figure was 88%. 82% of students achieved above grade 4 in the combine Maths and English measure. These results once again confirms our place among the top-performing schools in the area.
