Science Teacher - Potential to lead Science within one of our two small schools by September 2022

Roman Fields AcademyHertfordshire

Are you an ambitious and committed professional, currently looking for your next career step within a new and expanding academy trust?

Our staff retention rate has remained static at 96% for three years and there is a reason for this it is an exceptionally rewarding place to work due to the amazing progress our pupils make socially, emotionally and academically; whilst allowing for the real ‘work-life’ balance teaching smaller groups affords.

Roman Fields is a forward thinking, progressive, outstanding organisation. We will open as a MAT in April 2021 with a new purpose built free school due to join our existing provision in 2022. This role does offer significant and rapid career development opportunities for the right applicant.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, reflective and committed individual with aspirations for future progression within a thriving and unique organisation. The successful applicant will join our team of experienced teachers and tutors and teach small groups. You must be proactive in your approach, working closely with parents, our staff team and other agencies to find workable solutions and responses to engage pupils, and support their well-being and attendance. You should also be willing to spend time with our pupils outside of lessons (during lunch and other ‘unstructured time’ such as our after school programme) to build essential relationships. This role offers work life-balance in abundance, administration tasks are kept to a minimum and smaller groups mean teachers have the opportunity to focus on our priorities, building relationships and delivering quality first teaching.

We'd love you to visit - please contact Mandy Crow - 01442 256915 (ext. 203) term time only to arrange a visit.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this obligation. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.

Applications Close: 12th April 2021

Interviews: Week Commencing 19th April 2021

Roman Fields

Roman Fields was registered in Nov 2010, and exists to provide personalised alternative education packages for young people who for a variety of reasons have had limited engagement with education. It is a county wide provision based near Hemel Hempstead. In 2018, Roman Fields was awarded the National Autistic Society's Excellence award, soon after, we had a successful Ofsted inspection where we were graded "Outstanding" in all areas.

Roman Fields is in the process of acadmisation and will be a stand alone school within the James Marks Academy Trust until the opening of a second site in 2022/2023.

At Roman Fields the flexible and creative nature of the provision allows us to re-engage and motivate young people placing them on bespoke timetables that build on their strengths and interests and accesses accreditation from a variety of awarding bodies. We offer a provision for a wide range of ability including entry levels, vocational qualifications, GCSE and A Level. Please see our examination results as we are very proud of our youngsters and their achievements. All young people on roll have EHC plan. Most of our young people are autistic, a minority present with SEMH challenges, whilst a few have combined diagnosis of both autism and SEMH.

The vast majority of our young people are in KS4 (14-16) and KS5 (16-18) and we have a core offer of Maths, English, Science and ICT or Business. The rest of a young person’s timetable will be designed around their interests. We are also able to offer Humanities, Art, Economics and Music up to GCSE and beyond. Vocational courses are also available on site and through our partnerships with colleges and alternative education providers. Referrals are made via SEN provision panel and if agreed by the panel, places are then financed as part of the ‘core placement budget’. We can accommodate up to 40 young people.
