Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a teacher of science to start in September 2016.

Holy Family is a successful, well-regarded and oversubscribed secondary school. Students achieve very well in the school (our three year average 5A*-C including maths and English is 66%) and around 75% of our students choose to stay on in our own sixth form provision. Students have access to an extensive extra-curricular programme which all staff are encouraged to participate in. Holy Family is a very friendly and supportive Catholic school with an inclusive ethos. Every member of the teaching staff is provided with an iPad to support and enhance teaching and learning. In 2014 Ofsted described us as a good school “in which students display high levels of commitment and positive attitudes to learning and to doing well”. We were awarded Gold Investors in People (IiP) in March 2016 and the school has an excellent programme of professional and career development

The closing date for applications is 9th May 2016.

Holy Family is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Values and vision

Our Catholic ethos underpins all that we do. Our school values of Achievement, Service, Participation, Integrity, Respect and Equity are the golden thread running through every aspect of school life, from policies to pedagogy, behaviour to pastoral care. We are committed to the principles of Catholic social teaching, making sure that every child and young person in our care has what they need to flourish.

Ofsted

We were delighted that our latest Ofsted report (March 2023) reflects the school's vision and ethos. Inspectors noted the strong teaching, positive relationships and opportunities for spiritual and cultural development as well as our commitment to ensuring that all achieve to be the best they can be. Some of their comments are below:

“Staff are proud to work at the school. They feel well looked after because leaders are considerate of their workload.”

“Pupils said they enjoy the strong friendships they build here. The school is welcoming and like a family. Pupils appreciate the supportive staff who push them to go the extra mile in their work. They are safe and happy at school. Staff have high expectations of pupils’ work and behaviour and leaders have clear aspirations for pupils to succeed.”

"Behaviour is positive in lessons and around the school."
