Padworth College requires teaching staff with a specialism in Science for its Academic Summer School. The Academic Summer School will offer British Council accredited English language and academic courses during the months of July and August for students aged 13 to 17 years, over 2, 4 and 6 weeks. The College is situated on a 12 acre site, in a beautiful rural location, on the edge of the hamlet of Padworth, near the university town of Reading, with London close by. Sports and leisure facilities on site include a Multi-Use Games Area (tennis, basketball and netball courts), a weight training room, outdoor sports pitches and an outdoor heated swimming pool.
Courses (including staff induction) will run as follows:
Thursday 27 June to Saturday 13 July 2019.
Thursday 11 July to Saturday 27 July 2019.
Thursday 25 July to Saturday 10 August 2019.
Contracts are available for 2, 4 or 6 weeks. Please note that the above dates include induction training days, which are paid contracted days. Attendance is mandatory for all Academic Summer School staff.
Almost all Academic Summer School teachers are residential and some undertake additional paid boarding duties. Full board accommodation and a laundry service are provided.
Teachers are supported by an experienced academic management team. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards and PCs with Internet access. A comprehensive library of up-to-date teaching resources and equipment is available. Wi-Fi is enabled throughout the campus.
We only employ teachers with a proficient level of English (both spoken and written) and previous experience of living or working in the UK. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK as the College does not apply for work permits, visas or offer sponsorship to those applying from outside Europe.
All successful applicants will be asked to undergo Child Protection screening, which includes checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring service. An overseas police check will be required for all applicants who have lived or worked overseas. Qualifications
Applicants must be educated to degree level or NQF Level 6 or equivalent and must also hold a PGCE or equivalent.
Salary and Benefits
Basic salary for the course is from £750 to £900 per week, subject to experience. These figures are based on teachers working a full course. A fixed End of Contract payment will be payable at the end of the contract (i.e., after 2, 4 or 6 weeks). Teachers with boarding or other responsibilities will receive an additional allowance.
In addition to salary, the College provides accommodation (a single study bedroom, similar to those found in a university hall of residence) and three meals a day.

Located in Reading, Berkshire, Padworth College is a co-educational independent senior school. First established in 1963, the school became co-educational in 2005. The school has around 100 pupils aged 14-19, making it far smaller than the average secondary school. Padworth College occupies an 18-acre site, and is mainly housed in an 18th Century manor house. Despite this, the school can boast of a wide range of modern, high-quality teaching and recreational facilities. The school primarily accepts boarding pupils, although a small number of day pupils are in attendance.
