Job overview

STEPHENSON (MK) TRUST

Bridge Academy

Would you relish a challenge and a rewarding opportunity?  Are you interested in working with some of the most disadvantaged students in Milton Keynes?  Do you have the necessary skills required to work within a SEMH educational environment?  If YES we have the perfect opportunity below.

Bridge Academy came into being on 1 October 2013, having previously been four separate Pupil Referral Units, known locally as Personalised Educated Centres [PECs]. Bridge Academy now operates as three separate sites and strong links are maintained with referring mainstream schools as reintegration is a primary focus of the work undertaken, most notably at Key Stage 3.

Bridge Academy is part of the Stephenson (MK) Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust, and has close working links with Stephenson Academy, an SEMH Special Academy.   Students are referred to Bridge Academy via a monthly Alternative Education Panel, or in some cases on an emergency placement between Panel meetings. Each of the secondary schools in Milton Keynes, plus Milton Keynes Local Authority and Milton Keynes College are represented, at a senior level, on the Alternative Education Panel.  All students are on the SEN Register at SEN K, the old School Action Plus, a very small minority have a Statement of Special Educational Needs. Most students have a significantly disrupted educational background and low aspirations in terms of educational outcomes. The majority of the school population in Bridge Academy have a higher than average percentage of out of work claimants when compared to the rest of Milton Keynes.

Science Teacher Salary: MPS/UPS plus a TLR of £5,500 (this will include an agreed management responsibility)

We require an inspirational, dedicated and hardworking teacher to deliver science to classes in KS4 up to and including GCSE. Science is delivered in a fully equipped science lab to class groups of no more than 10 with Teaching Assistant support.
